Description
“Vermillion Sanguine Submersion" is a surreal and metaphorical exploration of the human condition, reflecting on the hidden battles we face and the facades we maintain and/or are expected to maintain.
A woman is submerged beneath the water's surface. Sanguine smoke, emanating from where her face should be, obscures her features. The smoke wafts upward from under the collar of her silk blouse, distorting as it reaches the water’s surface.
Themes of appearance and illusion, touching on issues such as chronic illness and invisible suffering. It reflects the experience of 'putting on an appearance' despite feeling overwhelmed or 'drowning' beneath the surface.
Her vibrant voluminous vermillion skirt swirls and tangles around her, contrasting sharply with the cool blues of the surrounding water. The artwork blends beauty with a poignant commentary on the invisible.
