Description
'Homeland' is a photographic documentation of my foremost experience in the country of my ancestors. Having deep familial and cultural ties to the Frosinone region of Italy, I've felt a magnetic pull to Italy for as long as I can remember.
Composed of 20 black and white 35mm photographs, Homeland is an exploration of the cultural values, people, and places of Italy that have influenced my life from the sidelines for the last three decades through my immediate family values. From Milano, to Bolzano, Firenze, and more, the initial experience depicted through these images have ultimately become my first memories of home in a way, shaping how I move forward in learning about the culture my family has embodied for centuries even here in the United States.
In a sense, 'Homeland' as a series is both the beginning of a long relationship photographing my ancestral land, as well as a visual timestamp of the moments I began to connect the dots between my past, present, and future.
