This piece was created as a personal thank you gift for sponsors, patrons, and founders of the Selkie Rio Art Residency at Villa Alexandrino in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in June 2024.
Over 300 photos were capture by Rebecca Rose on location of the artists, objects, and architecture to recreate the house and its environment. Featuring resident artists with their consent: Madam Selkie, Efdot, Mumbot, James Bristow, David Moriarty, Carlos Aquino, Jenifer Pepen Aquino, Foodmasku, Luciana Guerra, Rachel St. Wood, Daniel Tucci, Ottis Ots, Luko Zapata, Jason Sanders, Cameron Smith, Mateu Velasco, Andre Dahmer, Sarkis Delimelkon, Alimo, and Rebecca Rose. This piece is part of Rebecca's ongoing series "DeepCuts" - 3D spatial collages with depth inspired by songs.
Rebecca Rose is an award winning collage artist exploring collaged sculpts and holograms. Her 20+ year body of analog, sculptural, and digital collage has received multiple major artist grants co-sponsored by The Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, The Andy Warhol Foundation, The Joan Mitchell Foundation, The Willem de Kooning Foundation, The Andrew Mellon Foundation, The Ford Foundation, and Bloomberg Philanthropic. Rebecca was an artist in residence at the Joan Mitchell Center, Ox-Box/SAIC, AOTM, and the Rio Art Residency.
