Description
On a late evening in June, I found myself racing against the fading light, camera bag in hand, driving toward Anacortes in Washington State. My goal was simple: capture the sunset somewhere by the water. Though I wasn’t sure where I was headed besides that, I ended up at a familiar spot, albeit with a new angle of a subject that had previously caught my eye — a factory I’d photographed from a distance in the past.
I watched the sunset, taking photos for an hour or so, but the real magic happened on the drive back. A break in the roadside bushes revealed a perfect view of the factory. Above, the full moon wasn’t perfectly aligned, but it was too beautiful to ignore. I seized the moment to create an in-camera double exposure, later adding a touch of photoshop magic for a more immersive reflection in the water. The result is ‘Blue Hour,’ a snapshot that captures the serendipity and beauty of that spontaneous journey.
