Description
Rhizome.org is a pocket of the web with more than 25 years of history. It’s an archive of more than 2000 works. It’s a home for forgotten histories of digital culture. It’s where artists gather since the web was just a series of hyperlinks. It’s an evolving community of communities, a pioneer in the world of digital arts that has evolved alongside technology. From blockchain to low tech.
Rhizome has crossed paths with artists and thinkers such Petra Cortright, Aaron Swartz, and Ryan Trecartin. And over time, we’ve surfed through the rapid waves of obsolescence and shifting attentions that lead to entire movements disappearing overnight. Together, we rediscover cultural memory, expanding public understanding and appreciation for born-digital art.
We dream of supporting digital culture and its legacies in ways that are accessible everywhere, and for everyone.
