After being drafted first overall in the 2023 MLB Draft, MLB’s top pitching prospect, Paul Skenes, made his major league debut against the Chicago Cubs. Skenes tossed four gutsy innings, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out seven. In his first big league outing, Skenes helped lead the Pirates to a 10-9 win over the Cubs.
In seven starts at Triple-A Indianapolis, Skenes had a 0.99 ERA with 45 strikeouts. With Skenes now a part of the major league rotation, baseball fans will get a better look at a future ace.
