Description
Around Paris, there's an old railway line called "Petite Ceinture." While some sections are open to the public, others are more challenging to access. I met up with some friends at one of the more secluded spots and found a group of friendly Parisian comic book artists already there, painting a strip. We settled down next to them, and I began working on a piece with a vibrant yellow graffiti base, carefully preserving as much of the original color as possible while applying my first flat tints. Once the base color was set, I grabbed a dark spray can and added some freestyle lettering. A French-born graffiti virtuoso who made Korea his home in 2016, he began transforming Seoul’s underpasses, rooftops, and streets with his unique style—a blend of underground comics and 19th-century European painting. Embracing elements of rap, hip-hop, and classic comics, Drol turns forgotten corners into whimsical worlds of fantasy and fairy tales, establishing himself as a prominent figure in Korean graffiti. His versatility extends beyond the streets to illustrations, exhibitions, installations, and tattoos. Having participated in France's International Biennale and various residencies, Drol collaborates on projects celebrating Franco-Korean relations and works with industry giants like Sony Pictures and Mini Cooper.
