Inspired by the Cypherpunks, who laid the foundation of cryptocurrency as we know it. They were cryptographers, computer scientists, and coders who built the protocols and software that enable communications and transactions to be anonymous, private, secure, and trustless. They stood for the freedom of speech and the right to privacy.
It is believed that Satoshi Nakamoto was a Cypherpunk.
The background is the front page of The Times newspaper from January 3, 2009 and is inspired by Bitcoin's genesis block which contained a message that, when decoded, reads "The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks".
