Description
"I'm of African descent and I like to show it through my art. In this image, you can see her "heart eye" open and close. From my experience, as women, we tend to see with our hearts and are able to capture the real essence of things. We bring sensitivity, life and love to the world. 'Black gaze' shows a woman of African descent, like me, in the process of inspiration and creation." - Eva Cortez
Eva Cortez is a plastic artist and a crypto artist. Her art is autobiographical and surrealistic. She is the author of the book "Crypto Artist's Survival Manual". She leads an artistic project called "Ellas by Eva Cortez" through which she supports Hispanic artists, especially women, to enter the NFT ecosystem, through training and mentoring.
This piece is part of the "Female Filmmakers - Female Gaze - Collective Collection" brought to life by film director and feminist Josephine Landertinger Forero. Josephine invited female artists from around the world to create a piece that shows their interpretation of what "female gaze" means to them or honor women working in the film industry. The female artists were free to choose which option to pick.
