Description
Interior of "Azur swimming pool" (Басейн Лазурний). Indoor swimming pool located in Pripyat, Kiev Oblast, in locality abandoned in the aftermath of the Chernobyl disaster. The site is located at vul. Sportyvna, 24.
The pool was built in the 1970s and operated until 1998, twelve years after the disaster. At that time, the pool facilities were used by the liquidators.
Despite the high radiation levels in the area, the pool is considered one of the cleanest spots in the city, however, both the pool and the adjoining basketball court suffer in an advanced state of disrepair.
