In Greek mythology, Calliope (Καλλιόπη, lit. 'beautiful-voiced') is the Olympian Muse who presides over eloquence and epic poetry; the Nine Muses are the daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne, figuring as personifications of knowledge and the arts.
The main colours in this artwork are blue representing the great expanses of sky and sea, and yellow/gold to represent wealth and power.
