Shared Thoughts is the first artwork I've created using LCM with Stable Diffusion XL and Krita with my Wacom Intuos for real-time feedback interpreting my digital art as generated by AI. What? Another way of putting it is I draw a digital illustration as input and using my prompt, the ai generates a real-time view of that. I make a mark then it updates with a new interpretation, only affecting the area I made the mark usually. So when it "sees" the things you instruct in your prompts, there's an aha! moment. It's very interactive. This method gives the artist a similar amount of control over the medium as I find with watercolor. There's a learning curve for sure, but a very intuitive entry point.
It starts with a rough sketch plus prompt. Then it's constantly updating a "live preview" of the Stable Diffusion SDXL LCM window. It gives real-time feedback on your drawing, with whatever subject matter and style that you prefer. It's "painting with styles" more than color and brush strokes. I think some people hate when I describe it like that. I believe that color belongs to everyone, and why stop there? Style belongs to everyone too. It's basically the one thing that hand-based artists would flip their lids over and absolutely LOVE if they tried it. Imagine kitbashing... just without the library of [redacted] files and textures and all the masking and over painting. It's a massive time saver from a production p.o.v. as well as from a creative one. Experimental artists love to iterate and the faster they can get feedback and see changes, the more they can approve/reject. Mostly reject.
I did take it through a couple more steps beyond the initial LCM by using a custom defined upscaling process and other passes of post-processing. In the end the rendering is more refined and coherent. I loved the experience. Will be doing this again!
