Grainne was born to a human mother and a minotaur father in the labyrinthine city of Dis. As a result of her mixed heritage, Grainne was shunned by both minotaurs and humans alike. She found solace in the company of beasts, and learned to communicate with them. Through this connection to the natural world, Grainne developed prodigious Druidic powers. Grainne's parents were killed when an earthquake destroyed the labyrinth. Trapped beneath the rubble, Grainne used her magic to commune with the earth spirits, who lifted the rocks and freed her. This act brought her great fame, and she became known as the Minotaur who saved herself. Grainne's greatest trial came when she fell in love with a human man. Knowing that their relationship would be forbidden, Grainne turned to dark magic in order to transform herself into a human. The transformation was successful, but it came at a great cost: her powers were gone, and she was forever exiled from Dis. Grainne settled in the human city of Dublin, where she met her husband-to-be. The couple had a child together, but their happiness was not to last: Grainne's former lover tracked her down, and - in a fit of jealous rage - killed her husband. Grief-stricken, Grainne used her magic once again to commune with the earth spirits. They showed her how to tap into the power of the ley lines, and granted her immense power once again. With this new strength, Grainne exacted revenge upon her lover, reducing him to dust. Today, Grainne is one of the most powerful Druids in Ireland. She uses her magic to protect Dublin from harm, and is revered by humans and beasts alike as a hero.
